Hi, and welcome to the Mindset Coach Academy Podcast. Today it is Mental Monday, and we are talking all about mindset, how to live it, how to teach it, and how to sell it.
All right, I'm gonna talk about resetting. And in particular, I want to talk about the choice to reset.
So I'm currently in my office, you might be able to hear my kids clanking away upstairs. It's been a chaotic day, lots of moving parts, lots of sort of tensions with picking up the kids and who's doing what, and we're in between childcare. And we're kind of out of the routine. And I know a lot of you can relate, whether it's kids or whatever is happening in your life.
And what I have noticed in myself, is that switching my brain to be able to handle challenges or to sort of refocus or to find peace within chaos or stress is difficult. Unless, of course, it isn't. And what I mean by that is that really, the way that it becomes easy is by finding the moment where you have a choice.
By the way, that moment is always, but the difficult part is actually taking a second, and recognizing that your response to the given situation is a choice. Because I think what happens often is we get on this, I said the negative train, we get on this train, and then it's got some momentum, if you will, of going down, you know, quote-unquote, bad path or it's a bad day or things aren't going in a certain way.
And it just sort of like the inertia just keeps pulling us down that path. And it feels like we don't have a choice. But in fact, there is always the alternative path, always. And it's not that difficult to switch over to the other path. It's just a challenge to decide, in any given moment that we want to that we have a choice. Otherwise, we're just sort of along for the ride, right, and we don't have agency anymore, we can kind of play this victim like all these things are happening to us.
And so I want to talk about this because I think this is a simple thing to do in your life. And I think it's almost one of the most powerful things that we can do. Because it allows us to create our days and our life, how we want them to be. I don't mean we have control over everything, chaos will be chaos. But how we experience it can shift in a second. So in that moment, recognizing that we have a choice.
So my challenge for you today is in any kind of moment or situation or time when you feel like you're going down that path. Recognize you need to take a deep breath which helps that you have a choice. Now, you can stay .. you can choose to stay on that path. You know, let's say it's called the negative path, you can choose to stay there. Sometimes that feels good. But recognizing that's a choice is so so powerful.
